From the very beginning we have been involved in local evangelism throughout the city of Denver. Much of this has been focused on serving other ministries, but recently the Lord has been speaking to us about a new expression for our outreach. We feel we are to establish a permanent extension campus in downtown Denver, and eventually, to run a coffee shop, prayer rooms and offer training programs like the WISE School, the Art In Missions School and DTS' in the heart of the city.
We have started by going out one night a week. We gather for prayer and worship, and then wait on God for His heart for the evening. Afterrwards we head downtown to be His vessels to the people we encounter. Our nights, which we call "Kingdom Nights", include music, evangelism, prophetic art, and random acts of kindness. It has been a unifying experience and we have seen scores of lives impacted by God's love.
We have a deep desire to see revival come to our city and are starting to see Him move in amazing ways. As we have begun to step out, He has been faithfully showing Himself in many ways! We have seen miracles, healing and people giving their lives to Christ. We are beginning to understand what Jesus meant when He said, "The Kingdom of Heaven is already among you." God's glory is being revealed to the city of Denver and we are hungry to see more.
One evening, as we were ministering in downtown Denver, a man approached us. As we struck up a conversation, he claimed to know all the answers about God and knew all the "Christian" things to say in our conversation. But he insisted on continuing to give excuses of why God was not enough. As we continued to share with him, I felt the Lord tell me to stop reasoning with the man, and just pray for him.
So, we asked if we could, and he agreed. As soon as we began praying, God brought to mind several scriptures like Matthew 10:7, "...the Kingdom of heaven is at hand." I laid my hand on his shoulder and I prayed exactly what I heard the Father say, "God, would you show this guy what you mean by this?" I instantly felt bones in his shoulder and back popping under my hand. We asked him what was going on. He answered, "My back just realigned itself!"
At that moment he stopped arguing with us, he came face to face with the hand of Christ. He had no more excuses, and no more reason to argue. He ended up walking away with his life being rocked by God.
The Kingdom of God is not made up of just talk, but His power. It is not about what we know in our heads about the Bible, but it is about coming face to face with Jesus! Just as he did with this man's back, God is bringing the city of Denver back into alignment with his heart and his dreams.
