Video Impact School (VIS)

Prerequisite

Successful completion of the Discipleship Training School.

Course Description

With more than 2 billion Internet videos viewed each day, it's clear to see that video plays a vital role in communication. It's the communication tool that catches the eye of this generation. Properly used, video can pull heart strings, touch people's emotions, and make them a part of the story you are telling.

Join us for the VIS and acquire the tools of visual storytelling coupled with today's video technology. We will provide hands-on experience as you sharpen your skills. You'll become familiar with lighting, sound, shooting and editing as well as "guerrilla" film techniques to help create professional projects, all with the average consumer camera. You'll be learning in an atmosphere that will encourage you to press into the heart of God and learn to communicate His message of hope to the world.

Curriculum

• Preproduction (Script writing, storytelling, storyboarding)
• Editing and Compositing (Final Cut Pro and Apple Motion)
• Camera Operation (movement mechanics, composition)
• Sound (use of microphones, sound effects, foley and editing)
• Lighting Techniques
• Directing and Acting skills
• Post-production (creative editing, storytelling in editing, formats, technical terms in editing, copyright laws, use of music, etc.)
• Innovative Designing and "Guerrilla" Film Techniques
• Web integration

projects

• Create a one minute film
• Design and create a final video/documentary
• Re-create a short scene from a script
• Create a VideoCast for YWAM Denver
• Conduct a formal interview (sharing a testimony, etc.)
• Create a video blog

Cost

$3,695.00 USD for the twelve-week lecture phase. This cost includes tuition, food, and housing, and resources. There is an additional cost for books, personal care and laundry money, extra activities and personal snacks.

OUTREACH: Outreaches are optional for all the secondary school students. Upon completion of the program, students are invited to join either the current DTS outreach or a VIS outreach, if available.
